Today, on the final day of the Budget Session of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, the House passed the General Budget 2017-18, which I had the pleasure of presenting on 16th March, 2017. In my concluding address, I hoped that benefits of the Budget would reach the people, particularly those at the grassroot level. As the executive branch of the Government, all bureaucrats and officials of the State Government should discharge their duties responsibly and work towards implementation of policies and programmes framed by legislators in a time bound manner without any delays.
Regarding Residential Certificates (RC), I informed the House that RCs would be issued within this month to all those who have applied till date.
We have provided many opportunities and benefits for the welfare of the people and I called upon the people of Sikkim to utilize the benefits and opportunities provided by the Government to good effect, and work towards converting them into development of themselves and the State.
The Demands for Grants of the following Departments were presented by the respective Minister In-Charge and passed by the House:-
i) Buildings & Housing and Transport Departments
ii) Energy & Power and Labour Departments
iii) Food Security & Agriculture Development, Horticulture & Cash Crop Development, Water Resources & River Development and Animal Husbandry, Livestock, Fisheries & Veterinary Services Departments
iv) Rural Management & Development and Co-operation Departments
v) Water Security & PHE and Social Justice, Empowerment & Welfare Departments
vi) Home, Finance, Revenue & Expenditure, Development Planning, Economic Reforms & North Eastern Council Affairs, Land Revenue & Disaster Management, DoPART, Career Options & Employment Skill Development & Chief Minister’s Self-Employment Scheme, Ecclesiastical Affairs Departments.
