I attended the 203rd Bhanu Jayanti Samaroh-2017 at Manan Kendra. I paid tributes to Adikavi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya, remembering his immense contribution in promoting Nepali Language and Literature. His works will always be remembered by all in uniting all Nepali speaking communities. In Sikkim, Nepali language plays a crucial role in uniting the three ethnic communities- Bhutias, Lepchas and Nepalis, which can serve in promoting peace and communal harmony across the globe.
I suggested that Bhanu Jayanti could be celebrated with a theme every year, such as Nepali Ekta Diwas, Nepali Uthan Diwas, Nepali Bhasa Bikash Diwas etc. in places like Darjeeling, Dehradun and other places, where it is celebrated. I also suggested to increase the cash award for Bhanu Purushkar. Similarly, the cash award for other Sewashree Samman Purushkar can also be revised.
On the occasion, I released various literary books written by eminent Nepali writers of the State.
I congratulate all the awardees under various categories of Sewashree Samman Purushkar and particularly Shri Raj K Shrestha on receiving the prestigious Bhanu Purushkar-2017.
